In a few days we are to be treated to a public hearing concerning Donald Trump's request for a use variance for his catering hall. He needs the variance to build a basement. This reminded me that the State of New York runs the worst sewage treatment plant on Long Island at Jones Beach. This plant has racked up 32 violations to its permit since 2004. It releases its effluent into the nearby bays north of Jones Beach State Park and in the bay behind the Jones Beach theatre.
Reportedly, the State of New York has found the money to build diversion pipes from the Jones Beach sewage plant to Cedar Creek where the effluent is piped out into the deeper waters of the ocean. Whoa...our legislators in Albany didn't find the money for this diversion just because Mr. Trump wants to build his catering hall ? Do you think that Mr. Trump's money would influence our state senators and assemblypersons ?
I think I will attend that variance hearing and find out whether or not the money was found for the sewage diversion, just special, for Mr. Trump, our favorite billionaire. And if that is the case....where is the money to upgrade Bay Park sewage treatment plant and build the ocean outfall pipe?
